What We Believe

At St Mary’s we want to bring glory to God in everything we do. To help us do that we have three aims:

We want to reach out with the good news about Jesus Christ. We want as many people in Wheatley and elsewhere in Doncaster to hear about Jesus and the eternal life he offers.
We want to build each other up with the good news about Jesus Christ. We want to follow Jesus’ example of treating the Bible as the word of God. We want to hear God speak to us through the Bible, and to speak his truth to each other in love, encouraging each other to live for him.

We want to send out believers equipped with the good news about Jesus Christ. We want to live and speak for God at home, at work, and in our friendships. We want to send out and support gospel workers in our town and elsewhere in our world.

Jesus said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’

Matthew chapter 28, verses 18-20 (New International Version)

St Mary’s is an evangelical church, and is part of the Church of England. We believe salvation is by Scripture alone, in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, to the glory of God alone.

We are glad members of Gafcon, standing with the majority of Anglicans around the world to guard and proclaim the biblical gospel.

We are pleased to host Bible Training Yorkshire, a one-day-a-week course

providing high quality, Bible-dependent training for the whole of Yorkshire. The course is a partnership between the Yorkshire Gospel Partnership and Christ Church Fulwood.
